Desktop App Interface FAQs
In the desktop app, press Ctrl+S, or press the save button in the menu toolbar. If the file is already a saved .aibe project, it overwrites that file.If it is still untitled, a Save dialog opens. Choose a location and save as an AIBE file (.aibe) to keep your full project (text, comments, ignore list, and related app data).
Use the Save control in the toolbar so the Save dialog opens (Ctrl+S only shows that dialog when the project is still untitled; if it is already an .aibe file, Ctrl+S overwrites the .aibe without exporting). In the dialog, choose an export format instead of AIBE (.aibe). Supported exports:Word 97–2003 (.doc)Word (.docx)Rich Text Format (.rtf)OpenDocument Text (.odt).What is exported: the manuscript text in the editor, including text rewritten by AI Book Editor that is already in the document. What is not exported: Critique feedback comment bubbles and related AI feedback UI (those stay in the .aibe project only). Keep a .aibe copy if you still need feedback bubbles or other app-only project data.
Use the Open control in the toolbar and choose your .aibe file, or double-click an .aibe file in File Explorer (Windows opens it with AI Book Editor when the file type is associated). Your manuscript and saved app data for that project load into the editor.
Sign in with an active subscription that has enough word credit, put your text in the editor, then use the Critique control. You need at least 200 words in the text terminal to start. Running a Critique uses word credit from your balance.
You need at least 200 words in the text terminal before Critique will start. Shorter documents are blocked until you add more text.
Book-level feedback requires at least 500 words in the text terminal. Below that threshold, book-level feedback will not generate. Sentence-, Paragraph-, Passage-, and Chapter- feedback still generates.
Right-click the highlighted text you want rewritten and choose 'Rewrite' while signed in with word credit.Rewrites use word credit from your balance.AI chapter and whole-book rewrites are available only on Pro.
When a word is flagged as misspelled, right-click it and choose 'Ignore All'.
Press the 'Settings' button (the gear icon), then click 'Ignores'. Highlight the word(s) you want to remove from the list, then press 'Delete'.
Account & Billing FAQs
Go to https://www.aibookeditor.com/account (or create an account first at /create-an-account), sign in, open the Subscription tab, and choose Core Plan or Pro Plan.
On /account → Subscription, while on Core, use Upgrade to Pro. Complete Stripe Checkout; upgrades take effect promptly with prorated charges and adjusted credits as shown at purchase. You return to /account on the Subscription tab.
On /account → Subscription, while on Pro, use Downgrade to Core and confirm in the on-page dialog. The change is scheduled for the end of your current billing period (you stay on Pro until then). You can cancel a scheduled downgrade from the same tab while it is pending. No separate Stripe redirect is required for this flow.
On /account → Subscription, choose a top-up package while you have an active Core or Pro subscription. Payment goes through Stripe Checkout. Top-ups add words to your balance; they do not extend your subscription billing period. If renewal is within about 7 days, you may see a confirmation warning first.
Word credits are used by metered AI features in the app, including:CritiquesAI rewritesQuestions to the AI in comment bubblesOrdinary spellcheck and saving/opening files do not use word credit.
Paid plans bill monthly through Stripe and renew automatically until canceled. Each period includes a word-credit grant for your plan. Unused word credits do not roll over to the next period (no carryover) unless we state otherwise. Canceling or downgrading takes effect at period end unless stated otherwise; there are no refunds for unused credits on cancellation (except where required by law).
On /account → Subscription, choose Manage in Stripe. That opens the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can update payment methods, view invoices, and cancel billing as allowed by Stripe’s portal. Return URL is your /account page.
Sign in at /account. In the 'Account + Security' tab, click the 'Delete' button. Please note that deleting your account is irreversible.
